Ensembles & Group Tuition

What We Fund

Every year we fund a number of ensembles and group tuition projects in and outside schools where a sizeable proportion of participants are likely to be from low -income families. Often CKT helps seed fund projects to get them up and running and then moves to a role where we specifically support children and young people who meet our bursary criteria. We will normally consider funding a proportion of costs similar to the estimated participation of low -income children and may work with schools, parents charities and other organisations to fund the balance of costs.

We fund projects at all levels of musical development, instruments and genres provided the nature of the project is likely to motivate and engage young people from low-income families and there is a clear, joined -up plan for the musical progression of participants.

 Our ambition

While we cannot fund all projects our message to schools and others is to bring us proposals for suitable project within the above scope which we will try our best to fund. We are aiming to double the amount we grant to group teaching and ensemble projects over the next three years.

 Recent Projects

In recent years we have funded:

A strings project at Sandfield primary school in Guildford in partnership with the Guildford Royal Grammar School and the Friends of Surrey Hills international Music Festival

A wind ensemble at Ashcombe Secondary School in Dorking in partnership with Surrey Arts and The Pilgrims Band Trust

A brass project at Christs College led by Surrey Arts as part of a plan to revitalise music at the school

A wind ensemble in Epsom in partnership with Surrey Arts
